Remembering Dr. Scott Jacks
It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our founding dentist, Dr. Scott Jacks. Dr. Jacks opened the first Children’s Dental Group location in South Gate in 1983, in a facility he designed specifically to cater to the needs of young children. From the beginning, his mission included the desire to improve access to comprehensive dental care for children in under-served communities. Over the years, this mission has remained central to our business strategy and guided our growth to 10 locations and a dedicated team of over 300 doctors, clinical and business support staff. Tens of thousands of children are now receiving regular dental care as a result of Dr. Jacks’ vision. This is a source of great pride for all of us who choose to continue his legacy.
Dr. Jacks was a man of integrity and compassion, a highly respected dental professional, colleague, mentor, boss, partner and friend. He was very active in the dental community, having served as an examiner for the State Dental Board, president of the LA Dental Society, and on numerous committees and boards of the California Dental Association and the California Society for Pediatric Dentistry. He also freely gave his time to be a teacher and leadership coach over the years to countless pediatric dental residents at UCLA. Dr. Jacks was no less engaged in the community, and served on many school and community boards that benefited immeasurably from his leadership.
Scott Jacks was truly one of those unique individuals who had the ability to positively touch the lives of all those around him and he will be missed beyond the expression of words.
